Stealth Camp to Imp Campsite
7.2 Miles

We stopped by Carter Notch Hut for water and the bathroom  It is a small hut, seemingly deserted somewhat, but there was a caretaker and one hiker.  Maybe it does get busy sometimes but probably one of the least used huts.

We got on the trail at 6:45 and climbed up to Carter Dome.  The climb was pleasantly not a challenge.  There were stone steps most of the way up and some pretty level trail, little ups and downs and lots of boardwalks.  Between Carter Dome and Middle Carter there were nice views of Mt. Washington, sometimes in the clouds and sometimes visible.

We were making good time until we started the decline from North Carter.  It was very technical and challenging.  We spent a lot of time sliding down on our butts.  It was almost as bad as going up Wildcat.

Mosquitoes were bad today.  Imp Campsite was 3 off the trail.  We stopped early in the day (3:00) but we felt like we had had enough.  7.2 miles plus .3 off the trail is probably good for these mountains.

Tigger was the caretaker at Imp Campsite.  We also met an Australian couple that we crossed paths several times in the future.  They were bedded down in the shelter and he was suffering from giardia, he thought from unfiltered water.    Later on we found out they had to take a break off the trail for an extended recuperation, but did get back on and caught up with us later.
