Zero Day in Lee/Sheffield, MA

Day Five
Friday, May 5
zero day in Lee, MA

Breakfast at Econolodge consisted of two breads (bagels and honey buns), coffee and juice. The bagels had mold on them--should have chosen the honey bun.  Overall, not a good experience here.

Although we had asked for a late check-out and the night clerk said she would make a note of it, we received a phone call at 11 telling us it was time to check out, so we did.  We shopped at Big Y in Lee for fruit and bandages to make a donut for the blister on my heel.

As we were driving south to Sheffield, we found a great pizza place called Great Barrington Pizza House.  We ordered a medium pizza and large salad and had half pizza left over. Leftovers!  It was delicious pizza too.

We made it to Jess Treat's house in time to rest in the afternoon. We had the third floor to ourselves with a queen size bed. The room could have slept 3 or 4 more if needed, but we were glad it didn't have to tonight.   We packed our backpacks for our first overnighter tomorrow night.  AND, we cut out a small Gatorade bottle to make me a P-style-like apparatus—not quite as comfortable nor the right size, but it will do in a pinch.

It rained all day and was cold. We were sure glad not to be hiking today, remembering that our original plan was  to be hiking the Taconic Range today.  Jag Happy came in. He had hiked 20 miles south from Tyringham Road to Sheffield so he gave us the rundown of the trail ahead of us. Lots of water in the trail he said. Oh boy!

We heated up our leftover pizza for dinner and went to bed early.
