We had some misunderstanding about our shuttle ride this morning.  We planned to park at Manassas Gap, shuttle ride back to US 522 and hike north the car.  We drove to Manassas Gap to meet her and she was not there at the appointed time.  We could not reach her by phone and we started second guessing our location and thought maybe we were in the wrong place.  We drove to Ashby Gap, meanwhile reaching her on the phone and found out that we were in the right general vicinity but just not at the right parking lot at Manassas Gap.  By that time, we were too far away for her to reach us because she had to pick up someone else, so we wound up driving back to US 522, leaving the car there and hiking north. At the end of the day Sharon picked us up at Manassas Gap and drove us back to the car at US522. 

Good thing is, we got to slackpack today.  We spent the night at the Comfort Inn in Stephens City.

When we woke at 6:30 it had stopped raining.  It was pretty cold last night, but we both slept better, in spite of hearing something rummaging around outside the shelter. 

We hiked until 3:30 when we reached US 522 where our shuttle driver was suppose to pick us up for a ride back to Harrisonburg.  We waited and waited and she didn’t show up.  We passed up an opportunity to ride with some other hikers into town, thinking she would be there momentarily since she had called and said she was on the way.  Finally, we did accept a ride with the next person who offered since apparently our driver was lost.  We rode into Front Royal with a nice lady who spoke with our driver on the phone and told her where to meet us.

We spent the night at the Comfort Inn in Harrisonburg.
